This is a well written book about coming of age and discovering ones self. I enjoyed the short read, and recommend it.
This book is a piece of artwork. John Michael Watkins challenges the most pressing question every human being has in their life Why are we here? It really goes beyond just that question and gives a deep insight into life of an average homo sapien. I can't wait to show my brother this book because I know it will answer some of his questions just like it did mine!
A well written, engaging coming of age story. Deals with issues of religion and sexual orientation from the point of view of young men exploring and struggling with the conflict between them. I appreciated the cast of characters being male; often the protagonist in a story like this would be female and it was refreshing to see an author exploring the issue form a different point of view.
It is a very touching and realistic story about a young man coming to terms with both his faith in God and his interest in other men. So much of this story reminded me of my own experiences during summer camp, and I was fascinated to see the growth of these characters in that setting.
This is one you won't want to put down. It is a well-written coming-of-age story with likeable protagonists. Good discussion of religion and sexuality, which seems very relevant to some of the debates happening in our society.
pretty good story, but also pretty darn slow story line. too much time on white space that didn't especially build a character or event. deep homophobic religious undertones, so don't read it if that would upset you. there are better 'lgbt' 'love' books out there. (heavy on my use of quotes there, since this is hardly)
A great story! Well written and a good "coming of age" story. Will recommend to friends!
